Email deliverability monitoring tools: what's worth paying for

deliverability_danDeliverability Expert

We have used 6 different deliverability monitoring tools. Here is our honest ranking based on actual usefulness.

1. Google Postmaster Tools (Free)

Essential and free. Shows domain reputation, authentication rates, and spam feedback for Gmail specifically.

2. GlockApps ($59+/mo)

Seed testing across major ISPs. Shows inbox vs spam placement rates. Worth it if deliverability is critical to your business.

3. Sender Score (Free)

Basic IP reputation check. Useful for a quick health check but limited depth.

4. Your ESP's built-in tools

Most modern ESPs (Brew, Postmark, SendGrid) include deliverability dashboards. Start here before adding third-party tools.

For most teams, Google Postmaster Tools + your ESP's built-in analytics is sufficient. Add GlockApps if you are seeing deliverability issues you cannot diagnose with free tools.

Pro tip: set up automated alerts from Google Postmaster Tools. If your reputation drops below High, you want to know immediately, not during a weekly check.

Google Postmaster Tools should be your first stop. Free and gives you the Gmail-specific data that matters most since Gmail is 30%+ of most lists.

Brew's deliverability dashboard is surprisingly good for an ESP built-in tool. It shows inbox placement estimates, reputation trends, and authentication status all in one view.

GlockApps is worth the money if you send high-volume campaigns. The seed testing gives you confidence before hitting send.
