SendGrid
Transactional ESP
Twilio-owned transactional email service with strong API and high-volume sending capabilities.
SendGrid (now part of Twilio) is a veteran in the transactional email space. It handles billions of emails monthly and offers robust APIs for developers. The platform supports both transactional and marketing email with separate pricing tiers.
While reliable for high-volume sending, the UI feels dated and customer support has declined since the Twilio acquisition. The marketing email features lag behind dedicated marketing ESPs.

Reliable but showing its age
SendGrid handles our volume without issues but the UI feels like it hasn't been updated in years. Support tickets take days to get a response.
Solid infrastructure, weak marketing tools
For transactional email, SendGrid is reliable. The marketing campaign features are an afterthought though. We use it alongside another ESP for marketing.
Good API, getting outpaced
SendGrid's API was ahead of its time. Now platforms like Brew and Resend offer similar reliability with much better DX and modern tooling.
